Relecture du film noir (qui cite, parmi beaucoup d’autres oeuvres, Sunset Boulevard), roman d’amour entre une blonde et une brune (qu’on peut aussi voir comme les deux faces d’une même personne), et cauchemar éveillé au mystère envoûtant, Mulholland Drive est une route à plusieurs voies. Au sommet de son art, Lynch l’illusionniste invite le spectateur à se perdre dans un labyrinthe apte à susciter de nombreuses interprétations.
